Our favorite Chilean duet, Dënver wowed us recently with their triumphant declaration of homoerotic and other forms of sadomasochistic love in their outstanding installment from their latest album, Música, Gramática, Gimnasia. “Los Bikers (Segundas destrezas)” is a glorious 70’s, Sophia Coppola-swan dive into suicide and the accompanying video would make any art history major with a penchant for pretty dancers, or any other peculiar tastes quite stimulated, intellectually of course. If you haven’t seen the Portaluppi video yet, you just gotta. It is with great honor that I present a short correspondence with the San Felipe-proud, Mari and Milk sharing some holiday favorites.

Above all my other questions, I would love to learn a little more about your choice of Cristobal Portaluppi for your new art/music video?
A friend recommended him to me and I investigated his work. I liked what he was doing, so I contacted him, proposed the idea and everything just flowed naturally. [Portaluppi] connected immediately with the idea I had and was a fundamental part of the work we wanted to make, he gave it all the elegance we were looking for.
What was your favorite movie this year?
It wasn’t from this year but I saw it at the latest Valdivia Festival, is Vimukthi Jayasundara’s Between Words. It has everything I want in a film, seriously hallucinatory.
Where’s the band right now in its career? What more can we expect from the team?
We’re still promoting our latest album but with little desire to work on new material. We don’t expect anything overtly ambitious, only that hopefully we can reliably represent our small community of San Felipe.
Biggest wish for the new year?
That we get to see a lot of fireworks.
A recommendation for society?
Stop watching so many action films.
Your favorite food for the holidays?
Porotos granados [a pumpkin, bean, corn and tomato stew] by all means.

Además de todas mis preguntas sobre la banda me encantaría saber un poquito mas sobre su elección de Cristobal Portaluppi para su nuevo vídeo clip.
Me lo recomendó un amigo e investigué sus trabajos y me gustó mucho lo que hacía, lo contacté y le propuse la idea y todo fluyó de forma muy natural, conectó de inmediato con la idea que tenía y fue un aporte fundamental al trabajo que queríamos hacer, le dio toda la elegancia que buscábamos.
Qué fue su película favorita de este año?
No es de este año pero la vi en el último festival de Valdivia y es Between Worlds de Vimukthi Jayasundara, tiene todo lo que no espero de una película, sencillamente alucinante.
Dónde esta la banda ahorita en su carera? Qué mas quieren lograr como equipo?
Estamos aún promocionando nuestro último disco pero con hartas ganas de ponernos a trabajar en material nuevo, no esperamos cosas muy ambiciosas sólo representar ojalá de la forma más fidedigna posible a nuestra pequeña comunidad de San Felipe.
Mayor esperanza para el nuevo año?
Que podamos ver muchos fuegos artificiales.
Una recomendación para la sociedad?
Que vean menos cine de acción.
Y tu comida favorita para navidad?
Porotos granados de todas maneras.
