José Luis Pardo, a.k.a. guitarist and founding member of Los Amigos Invisibles and globetrotter as DJ Afro, is setting off in a very unexpected direction: nu-disco.
His new project Orquesta Discotheque will release Musica Moderna next month, a compilation of tongue-in-cheek covers of Latin pop songs Maná, Luis Miguel, Enanitos Verdes, Shakira, and more, reimagined with an electronic bounce by the likes of Natalia Clavier of Thievery Corporation, Francisca Valenzuela, and Federico Aubele. To give the extra nu-disco touch, Jose Luis called on production support Dimitri from Paris.
Musica Moderna drops December 9th on Nacional Records. Catch the premiere of the album trailer produced by William Zitser here, and head over to iTunes to preorder the album.
