Robi Draco Rosa, Ricky Martin, and creative mastermind Carlos Pérez got together this week to make history and celebrate LIFE through a music video shoot for Draco’s first official single “Más y Más” — a duet with Ricky Martin in Draco’s new album VIDA.

With only 14 days into the New Year of 2013, Draco and Ricky reunite after more than 8 years without seeing each other, and over 25 years without performing together. This long awaited reunion of the two iconic stars and friends took place in an old abandoned mansion in Yonkers, New York City. Directed by Carlos Pérez, from the Latin Grammy nomine Creative Studio Elastic People, this promises to be an unforgettable video.

I had the pleasure to sit with Carlos and got the scoop behind the scenes of this memorable reunion. Carlos, who has previously worked with Ricky, was really excited to collaborate with Draco for the first time for this project. “This shoot was just magical, from seeing them reunite in this amazing European-like location to the great song and crew that made every minute of that day flow like no other shoot I’ve ever done before,” Carlos commented. According to Carlos, this will be a very sophisticated, matured video, with slow, beautiful, detailed shots.

With such an inspiring name for an album and with more than enough reasons to celebrate LIFE this year (he was recently declared as cancer-free and released from medical quarantine after his two-year battle with non-hodgkin’s lymphoma), Draco launches this new album.

He presents this project comprising classic songs from his body of work, re-recorded as duets with his dearestfriends and an amazing group of collaborators. Participations include some of the most significant Latin music artist: Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades, Bunbury, Andres Calamaro, Tego Calderón, Calle 13, José Feliciano, Juan Luis Guerra, Juanes, Maná, Ricky Martin, Mima, Ednita Nazario, Romeo Santos, Alejandro Sanz, and Shakira.

These new versions of Draco’s timeless songs were recorded over a year ago in studios around the world: Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Puerto Rico, London, Miami, New York and L.A.

We can’t wait to see the final product of this grand project. Be on the lookout for the finished video “Más y Más” set to debut in February, and the album “VIDA” to be released on March 19, 2013. This is definitely the year to celebrate LIFE!

“For me, the making of this album has been a marvelous experience. During tough times, my inspiration and fountain of LIFE have been music, plus the affection and support of the public and all my friends who helped me with this project. There were intense work sessions during complicated moments that were marked by solidarity, feeling and hope. I’m very moved and thankful to everyone who collaborated in helping me make this dream come true. Especially to Sony Music for the support they’ve offered.” – Draco Rosa
