We all know the Universals and the Warners and Sonys of the world. But what about the Ban Bangs and the Cosmicas and the Mamushka Dogs? These Latin indie labels are turning out some of the brightest gems in the scene, repping the artists of tomorrow, not necessarily today’s. But we’re all about looking ahead here at Remezcla and finding what our grandkids will be listening to, so when they do listen to it, we can be super snobby and look down on our passe grandchildren’s interests. Luckily, Chile’s premier indie Sello Cazador (which boasts some of our current favorites Protistas, Los Mil Jinetes, Dënver, and the dearly departed TV Gamma) is willing to partake in the future gang up of our children. So they’ve curated an entire playlist for us, filled with the best of the best from their catalogue. It’s part of our new series of monthly label-curated mixtapes, titled El Mix, and this one serves as an introductory stamp on our site, the not-so cleverly, but rather very literally, titled El Mix Vol. 1: Cazador Compilado. And guess what? It’s FREE. You get 12 amazing tracks by paying absolutely nothing. It’s the American dream, people. And you even get some great artwork courtesy of the Remezcla team (it’s a tiger, get it?).
Tune in next month for our next round of El Mix, but download Cazador Compilado to hold you over in March.
