The LA-based (not Bronx-based) rockers The Bronx now go by the alter ego Mariachi El Bronx. These reincarnated mariacheros lay their second studio album under the self-tilted Mariachi El Bronx (II) set for release August 2, 2011 on ATO Records. This means you get an EXCLUSIVE free download in generosity of this hybrid group. The band once again teamed up with John Avila, former member of new wave’s Oingo Boingo, to co-produce this record.
“Map of the World” is the seventh track off the upcoming album which comes packed with rhythmic density, full-blasting trumpet melodies, and a flow of harp arpeggios. Seemingly, the song takes a bit of influences from Denver’s gypsy punk DeVotchKa, and yet depicts a piece of conquest and passion out of a Don Juan de Marco or Desperado scene. Whatever portraits it paints, the tune is an fusion-scape where mariachi meets softcore punk.
