After a three year hiatus, Argentine producer Pedro Canale, aka Chancha Via Circuito, returns triumphantly with his third album, Amansara, set for release later this month. We’ve already fallen in love with lead single “Coplita” created with longtime collaborator Miriam García. Now, Chancha serves up an exclusive preview of the forthcoming album, featuring another close collaborator, Toronto-based, Barranquilla-born artist Lido Pimienta.
The collaborative track, “Jardines,” explores another solid vision of the space Chancha has established for himself– electronic, futuristic processing of cumbia and other regional styles from Latin America. While rooted in renderings of traditions, Chancha’s productions welcome unexpected elements, as seen in “Jardines,” with floating chimes ringing through while Lido’s chant-like vocals and pounding drums bind the composition. This is yet another solid delivery from a highly anticipated release from Chancha.
Amansara is out on Wonderwheel Recordings on September 23rd in digital and vinyl/CD formats; you can preorder it here. If you’re in the Los Angeles vicinity, don’t miss Chancha live for an album release party with Subsuelo at Los Globos on Thursday, September 18th, in partnership with Remezcla and Red Bull (tickets here).
