First, there was Elefant (not to be confused with Elefantes from Barcelona) and that was good. Then came the solo career of Diego García, Elefant’s former frontman, and that was also good, if a bit depressing. It was, after all, an album of songs García wrote trying to win his girl back. Spoiler alert: they got back together and now they’re married and have a daughter.
Now, we have Garcia’s second album, Paradise, and it is also good! The album title alone should tell you just how much more wonderful his life has become over the years, but if that’s not enough, then listen to the single “Sunnier Days.” No more cloud of grey, no more voids to be filled by tubs of chocolate chip ice cream! No, now the days are sunny, festive, and beautiful. Don’t believe me? Check out the opening lyric: “The heart has a way of pushing through the darkest days.”
The Tin Man from The Wizard Of Oz should pop this in his iPod if he ever loses his heart again. It’d make a fine substitute.
