A couple of years ago, the Panamanian duo from Oakland, California entered the scene all thugged out rhyming about having guns and gold teeth but somehow as it turned out, what they do the best was mellow love songs. A clear example of this was last year’s hit “Abrazame.” Recently Raka Dun and Raka Rich did a couple more of steamy remixes of Anglo songs in that same style.
Last week they dropped this version of Goapele‘s über-sexy “Play” where they added some Spanish verses to the original. Now they went a step further with their “remix” of Li’l Wayne‘s “How To Love” replacing all Weezy’s vocals with their own and they even took the liberty of changing the song’s topic, turning it into an I-Love-You ballad (fortunately with much less auto-tune abuse than the original).
You can hate all you want and call this cheesy and commercial, but some teenage girl out there is wetting her panties listening to this and Los Rakas are just counting the minutes before they explode to worldwide stardom.
