With the aid of a reliable Internet connection and well-outfitted home studios, Luis Carballo of Costa Rica’s Los Waldners and Victoria Linares of the Dominican Republic-based band Franny & Zooey have connected for a digital-age collaboration.
After Victoria wrote a review of Los Waldners for Latin pop culture blog Media Tinta, the two started chatting and soon decided to record a one-off collaboration. The fruit of this indie alliance is an innocent, bedroom pop number, realized at a distance of (approximately) 2,207 miles between New York City and San José– a glimpse into the duo’s international folk pop connection.
The lo-fi track is a chance for the pair to get their feet wet for future releases, as Luis prepares to launch his debut solo album with a Los Waldners release in production, and Victoria’s second EP with Franny & Zooey is in the works.
