There’s an update regarding Fuerza Regida’s show in Cancun, Mexico. Following the alleged death threats they received from an organized crime group, the Mexican-American group canceled their performance in the city. The show was originally scheduled to take place at the Plaza de Toros Cancun today (Apr. 19).

The “Que Onda” band updated their fans through an Instagram story yesterday about the performance (Apr. 18). The press release reads: “For reasons beyond our control, we inform you that we are forced to cancel the performance scheduled for this Friday, April 19, 2024. Refunds for tickets purchased will be sent as of May 1, 2024.”

Last week (Apr. 19), alleged threats via narco mantas appeared in two locations in Cancun, including near a church. The banners advised the group not to perform at their upcoming show in the Mexican city: “This is for you [slur] from Fuerza Regida, we are going to f*ck you up on April 19th in Cancun. It will be your last show of your f*cking lives. Atte: CDS.” The CDS (Cártel de Sinaloa) is the Sinaloa Cartel.

This isn’t the first time the popular música mexicana group has withdrawn from a performance due to alleged threats by organized crime groups. In October 2023, the group canceled a show at the Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, Mexico, due to a banner threat. The message addressed to Fuerza Regida read, “We are going to fuck you up on October 6th in TJ, it will be the last performance of your fucking life. Att. CJNG.” In a smaller font, it also said: “Perform and we will kill you… Fuerza Regida did not want to do it the easy way.”

As of now, their other performances in Mexico are still happening. The Mexican leg of their Pero No Te Enamores Tour will continue to Mérida, Yucatán (Apr. 20), Aguascalientes (Apr. 24), and Tuxtla Gutiérrez (Apr. 26).
