Another música mexicana artist has canceled a concert in Tijuana, Mexico, due to alleged death threats by an organized crime group. Fuerza Regida will no longer perform at the Estadio Caliente on Oct. 6 in the border city.

Yesterday (Oct. 2), Fuerza Regida posted a press release graphic. “Event In Tijuana Cancelled For Reasons Beyond Our Control. Thank you very much Mi Raza,” the band wrote in the caption. Remezcla reached out to Fuerza Regida’s team for a statement, who referred to the official press release instead.

The cancellation comes after a narcomanta – a banner put up by cartels in public places with specific warnings or messages – showed up in the city yesterday (Oct. 2), allegedly signed by the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG). The message addressed to Fuerza Regida read, “We are going to fuck you up on October 6th in TJ, it will be the last performance of your fucking life. Att. CJNG.” In a smaller font, it continued: “Perform and we will kill you… Fuerza Regida did not want to do it the easy way.”

Though it’s unclear if the narcomanta is legitimate, Mexican media outlets are speculating that it’s due to their narco-related lyrics. While we don’t know the exact reason behind the alleged threat, the group is no longer taking their Otra Peda tour to the border city.

Last month, Peso Pluma also allegedly received threats by the same crime organization. The skyrocketing Mexican artist canceled his show originally set to happen on Oct. 14 due to safety reasons. “Our goal is to protect the fans and the team. For the safety of everyone involved, we will cancel our show in Tijuana,” the official statement said online. “Thank you so much to all our fans for understanding. We love you. Sincerely: La Doble P.”
