Taking their name from the classic Smiths song “Girlfriend In A Coma”, San Antonio’s Mexican-American, 2/3 queer all-girl trio, Girl In A Coma and their tuneful, straightforward indiegrrl pop rock is derivative of Riot Grrrl, Mazzy Star, and of course, the mentioned Joan Jett and The Smiths. They could grab the attention of anyone into indie pop rock acts like Pains of Being Pure at Heart, the 90s, the 50s, the 80s, the 90s that sounded like the 80s, the 80s that sounded like the 90s and anything in between…ok maybe except for the 60s and 70s but you get the idea.
