Grupo Firme is closing out the year with a new album. On Nov. 29, the Mexican banda group also revealed the release date for the upcoming LP.

2022 was a breakthrough year for Grupo Firme. In April, the group led by Eduin Caz brought banda music to the main stage of Coachella. In May, Grupo Firme sold-out two concerts at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA, where the Super Bowl was held earlier this year. The band’s Enfiestados y Amanecidos Tour sold-out stadiums across the U.S. Last month, Grupo Firme headlined the halftime show at the  NFL’s football game between the 49ers and Cardinals in Mexico City. In Sep., the whole band was on the cover of Billboard Magazine. “We’ve achieved so much that now we’re just trying to up that last accomplishment, and people are expecting more,” Caz told Billboard.

Now, Grupo Firme is keeping the momentum going with a new album. In May, the group released the LP Enfiestados y Amanecidos. Their next LP will be arriving on Dec. 13. In a post in the band’s Instagram stories, they revealed that the album will arrive with six music videos. The tracks were described as “songs for drinking.”

While being the biggest banda group in the world, Grupo Firme has also pushed back on the machismo in regional Mexican music. Eduin’s brother and bandmate Jhonny Caz is openly gay. Last month, Jhonny appeared as a guest judge on the Mexican drag reality show La Más Draga

“I am very grateful to this space because seeing how this project has grown fills me with joy, because if a project like this is growing that’s because the [LGBTQ+] community is helping it grow, have more visibility, and more of a name. It’s becoming more of a presence and that’s something that I love,” Jhonny said in a statement.

Grupo Firme will be performing at the SoFi Stadium again next year. Tickets are now on sale for the band’s third concert there on May 27.
