In a time when we haven’t had a strong iconic Latin female singer for a while, Ileana Cabra aka PG-13, lead female voice of Calle 13, it stepping up to the plate. Ileana Cabra’s interpretation of “La Pared” by Puerto Rican composer Roberto Anglero, left me without breath and craving for more. If I may add, this girl’s delivery was at another level! Her passionate performance of this classic bolero stood out as one of the best numbers in the Puerto Rican Musical TV Special “Hecho con Sabor a Puerto Rico.”
Other great performances that stood out included La PVC (renowned young salsa band in PR), Denise Quiñones (Miss Universe 2001), Willy Rodríguez (Cultura Profética’s Lead Singer), Índigo (emerging indie band), and heavyweights like Vico C, Danny Rivera, and Chucho Avellanet.
Rumors are that Ileana will be coming out with her solo debut album soon. If so, this appearance was the perfect teaser for her launch. We look forward with what Ileana has in stock for us.
