We just got this new video for “Casa Vacia” by Mexico’s Hello Seahorse! The exclamation mark is part of the band’s name. Do not confuse it with me being SO excited for this. There’s actually not that much excitement going on. The song, off their current album Lejos. No tan Lejos. is very mellow and the video is black and white and in slow mo. Yes, it has a pretty melody and a pretty girl. But it all feels like those pretentious artsy-fartsy, just-outta-film-school experiments that seem to drag on for hooooours and nothing significant happens and all you want to do is get up and leave but it’s the screening for the directorial debut of your buddy and you can’t so you stay until the end because, oh well, at least the girl is pretty.
I guess if I had just broken up with my girlfriend and I was depressed, this could make for an ideal soundtrack. But it’s sunny and warm over here (San Francisco) and it’s Friday for God’s sake! I can’t afford to get into this mood. Hit me back with this gloomy video when Autumn really kicks in.
Watch Hello Seahorse!’s “Casa Vacia.” Too heavy or just right?
