Cardi B is releasing a new single this Friday (Feb. 5).
The Bronx native announced the song, “UP,” on Twitter Monday evening (Feb. 1) after teasing fans for nearly 24 hours.
After initially tweeting Sunday night (Jan. 31) that she would make an announcement the following day, Cardi B went live on her Instagram late Monday afternoon where more than 100,000 followers tuned in for what they thought would be Cardi dropping her big news.
After two minutes, Cardi B ended the video feed without making an announcement and then tweeted a message about how she doesn’t “need press” and isn’t “going to be immature anymore.”
She followed that tweet with another that told fans to “hold tight” and another announcing that she was going to take nap.
The teasing didn’t seem to deter fans who were hanging onto every tweet Cardi B was dishing out. They have been anxiously waiting for the rapper to announce new music, although many were hoping it would be a follow-up to her 2018 debut album Invasion of Privacy. The album was certified triple platinum and won Best Rap Album that year at the Grammys, among other accolades.
