The thought of more Latine and K-pop collaborations is always exciting, but this one might easily break the internet. Brazilian singer Anitta and EXO’s Chanyeol could have a single on the way, and the speculation alone has set the internet ablaze.
The rumor began when Raiden, a producer, DJ, and close friend of Chanyeol, uploaded a video of the K-pop star drumming to his Instagram Stories.
Eagle-eyed fans zoomed in to take a better look at a whiteboard behind the singer. They noticed what appeared to be a tracklist for his next solo album. The top item, which read “ANITTA” and “E-YO,” has fans of both singers taking to social media to share their excitement.
“Please let the Anitta and Chanyeol collab be real,” exclaimed a fan on Twitter, followed by a crying emoji.
“We are gonna shake some ass with that Chanyeol x Anitta collab,” wrote one fan who’s anticipating a dance track.
“Anitta worked with Xtina. Anitta working with Chanyeol,” wrote a fan referencing Christina Aguilera. “Only logical conclusion next is Xtina featuring Chanyeol. Then my XtinaExo agenda will be complete.”
The track could be one more entry to a growing list of K-pop and Latine collaborations, including the fan favorite “Chicken Noodle Soup” by J-Hope and Becky G. However, further details about Chanyeol’s solo album are still not available, so it’s hard to predict when the collab will be released, if at all.
In the meantime, Anitta fans have a lot to forward to for the rest of the year. The Brazilian singer will be one of several performers on Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Vol. 4 show when it streams on Prime Video on Nov. 9. She’s also tapped for co-hosting duties at the Latin Grammys when the telecast airs on Univision on Nov. 17, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. CT). Days later, she’ll appear at the American Music Awards, where she’s nominated for the first time as “Favorite Female Latin Artist.”
