The NFL announced today (August 9) that J Balvin is tapped to headline their 2022 NFL Kickoff Concert. The NFL Kickoff Experience is set to touch down at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach, CA, on Thursday, Sep. 8.

The performance will commence before the Bills vs. Rams game takes place at SoFi Stadium. Luckily for West Coast-area fans of the reggaetonero, the concert is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

But if you can’t make it to the show in person, J Balvin’s set will be available to stream on the NFL website, mobile app, and select social media platforms. Fans who would prefer to watch the performance on a bigger screen can catch the highlights on NBC and during the NFL Network’s pregame show coverage.

Believe it or not, the NFL and J Balvin are no strangers to each other. The Colombian superstar made a surprise guest appearance alongside Shakira and Jennifer Lopez when they headlined the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show in Miami, FL. When Balvin hits the stage on Sep. 8, he will become the third Latine artist to perform during the kickoff festivities, following Enrique Iglesias in 2002 and Carlos Santana in 2005.

Balvin has a lot of exciting things to look forward to for the rest of the year. The rapper is set to return to the stage at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards later this month, where he’s also nominated in the “Best Latin” category. The VMAs will feature the world premiere of “Nivel de Perreo,” his collaboration with Ryan Castro. Fans can also look forward to copping a pair of J Balvin-branded Air Jordans when they’re released mid-Sep. The superstar will then tour Latin America for a string of concerts and festival dates through the end of the year.

We can’t help but wonder: is a J Balvin-led Super Bowl halftime show next? Only time will tell.
