Hot off a performance at the 46th President’s Inauguration, JLo attempted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” music video.

In a video posted to her Instagram profile on Saturday (Jan 23), Jennifer Lopez sashays down a beach, tossing away her expensive sunglasses, white coat and jewelry, while the background plays “my love don’t cost a thing” just like the music video did, twenty years ago.

But Twitter users weren’t quick to jump on, asking, does Lopez really think asking her 45 million plus fans to go to a public beach, sans mask, and throw away their fancy, costly things–during a pandemic–was wise?

While others decided the challenge was too funny to pass up and posted their hilarious videos to Tik Tok in response.

Oh, and of course there were Ashanti-related jokes:

Lopez joins the list of rich, famous people who seem to forget that while they are safe, and comfortable in their mansions are CAN throw away expensive jewelry without worry, the rest of us are worrying about if and when we will be able to pay our rent, feed our families, and survive a global pandemic that has disproportionately killed Latinos and Black people at alarming rates.

But sure, JLo, throw your expensive items- maybe add some cash to that and give to the hurting communities? Cause in 2021, love may not cost a thing but survival costs a lot.
