Mexican Icon Juan Gabriel Is Dead At 66

Today, the beloved Juan Gabriel died. Journalist Mara P. Castañeda had the unfortunate job of breaking the news that El Divo de Juarez passed away at 11:30 a.m. after suffering a heart attack. 66-year-old Juanga performed in Los Angeles on Saturday as part of his “MeXXico es todo” tour.

Born Alberto Aguilera Valadez on January 7, 1950, the Mexican singer began his career in 1971 at 21 years old. He debuted his career with “No Tengo Dinero.” And according to Univision, he recorded about 1,800 songs in his lengthy career. Most recently, he released a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” His version, titled “Gracias Al Sol,” is part of the recently released Latin tribute to CCR called Quiero Creedence.
