Following her historic Grammy win, Karol G is up for another prestigious accolade. On Feb. 8, Billboard revealed that the Colombian pop star will receive the 2024 Woman of the Year Award during the Billboard Women in Music Awards. The ceremony is set to take place at the YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, CA, on Mar. 6. It will also stream on their website the following day.

“With her immense talent, Karol G has created a movement for women across the globe due to her empowering lyrics and shameless confidence,” Billboard’s Editorial Director Hannah Karp said in a press statement. “The release of her groundbreaking album Mañana Será Bonito has proven her a force to be reckoned with in both the English and Spanish charts. We are so excited to honor her as Woman of the Year.”

Billboard’s Woman of the Year Award is one of the music industry’s highest honors, given to incredible women who have made significant contributions to the industry, as well as inspired generations of women in the same field through their hard work and success. Past Latine recipients include Cardi B and Selena Gomez. SZA, Taylor Swift, Madonna, Ariana Grande, and Beyoncé have also been awarded in the past.

Karol, whose album MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO made history as the first female artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with a Spanish-language album, undoubtedly fits the bill. Last year, she was named the first Latina to headline a global stadium tour and earn the highest-grossing Latine touring artist of the year. Moreover, she is also a businesswoman and philanthropist, leading her record label Bichota Records, and her social work organization Con Cora Foundation.

The annual ceremony, which recognizes both emerging and A-List artists, creators, and executives, will be hosted by American actor and producer Tracee Ellis Ross. Other Latinas who will receive an award this year include Young Miko, who will receive the Impact Award; Ice Spice, who will receive the Hitmaker Award; and Luísa Sonza, who will receive one of Billboard’s new Global Force Awards. Karol G, Young Miko, and Luísa Sonza will be performing at the ceremony. Charli XCX, Maren Morris, NewJeans, TEMS, and Victoria Monét will also take the stage.
