The good news just keeps pouring in for this reggaetonera. Shortly after Karol G and fiancé Anuel AA confirmed they will be getting married this year, the 28-year-old Colombiana took to Instagram on Wednesday, January 8, to announce her upcoming appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. And now the day has come: Karol G will be taking the stage tonight at 11:35 p.m. ET in New York City. Ahead of her U.S. late-night show debut, the artist revealed to Remezcla just how much the opportunity means to her.

Karol surprised her U.S. fans with her Instagram posts, confirming that she’s, “Ready for a late nite session.” One of her posts also revealed that she is set to perform her latest single, “Tusa,” on The Tonight Show. Released in late 2019, “Tusa” was a hint at Karol’s increasing entry into the American music industry with its guest verses by Nicki Minaj. And according to Billboard, it was the first song to debut at No. 1 in 2019 alone, and “the first title by two women in a lead role to open atop the chart since its inception in 1986.” No biggie.

It’s accomplishments like these that make the urbano songstress excited and hopeful for success in the States.

“Being on Jimmy Fallon tonight is a very big opportunity for me, and I think that more than an opportunity [it is] one of those things you ‘check’ off your list,” she tells us. “There have already been many artists I admire on this show, a lot of Latino artists, and I put myself onto the task — I said, ‘I want to be there someday, too,’ as it’s a great opportunity for me to do a project in the Anglo market.”

With the big day already here, Karol is also taking a moment to realize how her career has progressed. “I’m realizing that this is the moment where you open your eyes and you realize how far you’ve come, how far my music has gone,” she adds. “Everything started in Medellín, over in Colombia, [then] to other countries in Latin America and now to actually do it and include the Anglo market, people who don’t speak Spanish [and listen] to other styles of music, I’m very excited to be here, to be able to open the door to this opportunity on a very special show.”

As for what fans can expect from tonight’s show, Karol G promises a good time. “We put ourselves up to the task of making a spectacular show that people will enjoy and love,” she offers. “We’re going to recreate some parts of the ‘Tusa’ video here on Jimmy Fallon’s stage, we brought some of the dancers and cast here, too, so I hope it’s a spectacular show that people will enjoy so much and that it’s special for everyone who sees it.”

But there’s only one way to find out, no? Tune in to Karol G’s big debut tonight on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at 11:35 p.m. ET. on NBC.
