Over the weekend we learned of the sad news that Andrés Blanco aka Blanquito Man of NYC via Venezuela latin ska band King Changó, was recently diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma colon cancer. This is devastating news to anyone, but it’s especially daunting to face for a person who is uninsured, like Blanco is.
While he has already had one surgery that his family is hopeful removed the cancerous tissue, Blanco will need various follow up tests, CT scans, and a follow-up surgery – all of which he is shouldering with extremely limited finances.
Blanco’s family has set up a Give Forward campaign for him to try and raise funds to cover some of the costs of the medical treatment he will need, and we wanted to do our part to spread the word.
