Los Angeles-based genre-fusing band La Santa Cecilia has just been added to the Universal Music Latin Entertainment family. After being signed to the Grammy-winning producer, Sebastian Krys’ independent label Rebeleon, the group will now release its new music under Universal Latino. La Santa Cecilia finds themselves in great company among 3Ball MTY, Jenni Rivera, Juan Gabriel, Juanes, and Alejandro Sanz. LSC recently wrapped up a recording session for a new series of EPs with Sebastian Krys that will feature Jeff Babko and Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello). LSC is currently working on a music video for their first single “El Hielo” – a powerful song about the ICE deportations, which shows several perspectives of immigrants struggling to make a better life in the U.S.
It’s rare for a local group from Los Angeles to sign with Universal Latino as they tend to sign mostly artists from other countries, so this is a significant move for the band and should increase their reach globally. Congratulations on behalf of Remezcla.
La Santa Cecilia will be celebrating their signing where it all began at Mucho Wednesdays at La Cita on
February 13, 2013.
