If you go to your abuela’s house tomorrow to raid her closet in search of aesthetic inspiration, assuming you haven’t done it already, do you think you’ll be satisfied with your findings? Well, the girls from “newyorkdetroitpuertoricolaoakland” band Habibi certainly took the best out of old Persian cassettes, pre-revolution VHS tapes, and sumptuous fabrics to build a lo-fi atmosphere around their music (and also to keep their Tumblr flowing). And even with such a busy background, their songs are as simple and sincere as the charming feelings of love they profess.

Habibi’s new song, “I Got The Moves,” is part of their self-titled debut album, available now on Burger Records. It’s short as punk, but still manages to get those Middle Eastern vibes all jammed up in a fun, exotic package. Yeah, it feels like they’re teasing us, but isn’t that what sweethearts do? So do yourself a favor: stop puckering and get to the task of raiding Habibi’s SoundCloud to enjoy each one of their nostalgic little presents.
