Roberto Lange, a.k.a. Helado Negro, has an ongoing series of EPs titled Island Universe Story. Recently he tacked on a “Two” at the end of the title and voilà, we have the series’ second installment.
The Florida-bred composer released this compilation not as an outtakes project of the LPs, but as extensions, continuations of the same theme. This is quite apparent, since many of these tracks could’ve found shelter inside Invisible Life. But the fourth track, “Enters,” is way dancier and glitchier than what we’re used to from him. Other tracks are (sometimes boring) experiments in sound, others are standard Helado Negro fare. You can name your own price for the individual tracks or drop $5 on the whole thang.
