Hombres G and Reik teamed up for a new version of a classic. On July 12, the iconic Spanish band and the Mexican pop group released a new take on “Marta Tiene Un Marcapasos.” The result? A complete reinvention of the 1980s popular track.

“❤️‍🔥🚀 Our new collaboration with our great friends @reikmx 🇲🇽 is available! We hope you like it as much as we do! ❤️‍🔥🤘🎶,” the Spanish rockeros announced on their Instagram.

Sonically directed by Fernando Boix, the new collaboration features a more dreamy pop soundscape with softer vocals from both artists, completely moving away from the original’s dance-punk rock vibe. By adding spacey synthesizers, a slowed-down tempo, and sparing acoustic guitar strings, the new version reinvents the tune known for its fast-paced, groovy bass, brass instrument melody, and signature vocals. However, the song’s new direction is intended to give a new perspective to the vintage song, which is part of Hombres G’s 40th anniversary celebration.

Fans are excited about the new collaboration. A YouTube user, @fabiolaillanulin2107, wrote: “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I AM LISTENING TO IT AT FULL VOLUME AND SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS AT THE SAME TIME, THANK YOU VERY MUCH HOMBRES G, YOU ARE THE BEST!”

Other fans are surprised by the new song direction. A YouTube user, @isaelmay5537, commented: “I wasn’t expecting that… .”

Since last year, Hombres G has been releasing new versions of their classics with the help of the new generation of Latine and Spanish artists. Besides this new song with Reik, they have also released reinvented joint tracks with other artists, such as “Te Quiero” with Carin León and “Devuélveme A Mi Chica” with Walls, Funzo & Baby Loud.

Up next, Hombres G is wrapping up its 40th anniversary tour. The last two U.S. tour dates are Phoenix, AZ, tonight (July 12), and El Paso, TX, tomorrow (July 13).
