The San Antonio dweller chose to rework Mercedes Sosa’s haunting cover of the Violeta Parra-penned classic, “Que he sacado con quererte,” and the result is an elegantly sped-up, tropicalized incarnation that retains the anthem’s grandness and intricate sadness. Sosa’s voice wails while Sonora’s touch gathers momentum.
