It’s been a while since a song immediately gripped my cerebellum, hypnotized me and didn’t let go until the last second the way “Memory Interrupted” did in the wee hours of the night last night. I was immediately struck by the opening Duran Duran-style synths and vocals. Seconds later, the My Bloody Valentine-style guitars and percussion punched their way into the mix and the night took on a new life of its own.
The song is the first single off Everything Is A Foreign Language To Me, the new album by tapatio quintet Antoine Reverb. The quintet, featuring band leader Andrés Romo-Chávez Castellanos, Cynthia Saldaña Estevez, Benjamín Zárate Esparza, Diego Chávez Tenorio and Miguel Ruiz Vargas, made the songwriting and recording process more interesting by trading places behind instruments and vocal duties. If “Memory Interrupted” is any indication, we’re in for a treat.
Everything Is A Foreign Language To Me will be released on Oct. 27th via Arts-Crafts Mexico. Listen to “Memory Interrupted” below!
