It’s been three years since Año Santo came out, which means that it’s been three goddamn years since Triángulo de Amor Bizarro graced us with a goddamn album. 2013 is already shaping up to be a big release year and Triángulo’s much-anticipated third album is a key piece of the sonic puzzle.
Victoria Mística is being backed once again by Mushroom Pillow (date TBA) but we have a second advance single to get our heads jerking. “Estrellas Místicas” is full-on Isa Cea fuzziness, very much on track with the band’s usual (beloved) sound: violent yet oddly ethereal. I’m partial to the moments when their voices meet in this great gruff/soft middle ground, but listening to Cea take the lead is always exciting. If this song is a sign of things to come, then please bring it on. Now.
