Barcelona residents Los Chicos Altos stand out in a crowd, literally. Not only because of their odd pairing–a German dude and a Black Californian expat making Latin music–but because they are in actual fact tall, hence their name.
For a while now, Los Chicos Altos have been releasing global bass-inspired music in Europe, with connections to ñu-cumbia and other trends that flourished this side of the Atlantic. We found out about them thanks to Denmark’s Urban World Records, the label that single-handedly championed the Viking Cumbia scene.
Now Urban World has put together this new volume of Global Bass, their annual compilation series, and it features four tracks by Los Chicos Altos, more than any other artist included in the comp. So it makes sense that they chose one of those four tracks as a promotional download.
Global Bass Vol. 3 includes other borderline Latin artists like Los Superpendejos and remixes by Los Empresarios and DJ Chernobyl, among many other non-Latin artists. It’s all about the newest musical trends from around the world converging in Denmark of all places.
