The turntables might be on the Hudson, but the music they spin comes from the funkiest corners of the world. Fifteen years ago, New York-based DJ/producer Nickodemus and a couple of friends started Turntables On The Hudson as a successful series of parties of global funk that developed into equally successful music compilations.

For their latest installment, the Hudson crew went to Barcelona and came back with a whole new comp of some of the hottest new music produced in the most cosmopolitan of Spain’s towns. And of course, who’s better to represent Barcelona’s cosmopolitanism than our friends Los Chicos Altos? The duo is an odd pair, a German and a Californian African-American who only have their unusual height and love for groundbreaking Latin music in common. For this promotional free download “Palenque Barcelona,” we have them remixing a Colombian-palenque-inspired track by street performers Palo Q’ Sea.

This is released as an EP along with three more irresistible dance tracks (also includes Quantic‘s Flowering Inferno and a moombahton remix by DJ Sabo). This EP is just a tease of a full length album compilation to drop in Spring 2013. Download “Palenque Barcelona” and stream the entire EP below:
