Only days away from finally wrapping up this crazy year, Puerto Rican duo Los Wálters surprised us by announcing their follow up to 2016’s Isla Disco. Titled Miss Universos, Los Wálters’ upcoming fourth full-length is slated for a February 2021 release; it’ll feature a track produced by fellow Boricua artist Orteez and a fitting-yet-unexpected cover of a song taken from former Miss Universe winner Dayanara Torres’ short-lived career in the late 90s.

The first taste we get from Miss Universos is “Yo Sé Que Tú Me Conoces,” an infectious throwback synth-pop single very much in line with the good stuff Los Wálters have become known for. The song instantly takes us to a steamy hot night down Ocean Drive in the ‘80s, complete with shimmering retro synths sounds and a bouncy bass line, and with Luis López Varona and Ángel Emanuel Figueroa singing nostalgic lyrics about shared stories and time passing by. But they have time to throw some curveballs, specifically when they drop into cumbia-inspired breakdowns, giving the track just the right amount of spice it needed.

To keep the buzz going, Los Wálters are scheduled to play a concert through livestream platform MusikONE on December 26, where they will perform not only “Yo Sé Que Tú Me Conoces,” but two more new songs, “Arizona” and “Pop Sin Ti.” Tune in at 6 p.m. EST so you can have a sneak peek of what these guys are preparing for us.
