Never in my life did I ever think I’d jealous of an inanimate object but, here I am, wishing I were the stop-motion skeleton who co-stars with Mexican pop-dream-folk artist Madame Récamier in her new video.
The skeleton in question is just one of many stop-motion actors in the video for “Quiero,” the first single from Récamier’s upcoming, Chetes-produced album, ImaGina (a play on her real name, Gina Récamier). The video was produced and directed by Sofia Garza-Barba, who is also responsible for videos for Kinky, Timbiriche, Amandititita, Natalia Lafourcade, and others.
Garza-Barba’s approach works beautifully with the new single. Récamier dances throughout the video as a ballerina wearing a depression-era outfit (pearls and all!) and a flamenco dress, and dances and flirts with the aforementioned skeleton. Check out the video below.
