Making Movies + Music

The question is when are these boys going to move to Chicago already?! The Kansas City-based band Making Movies makes frequent stops in the Chi (opening for Aterciopelados at House of Blues last month, for example) and even claim to lead the new wave of Latino rock in the Midwest.

During their most recent performance in Chicagoland at our Myspace Latino/Remezcla En Tu Ciudad Concert, lead singer Enrique assured us they are making original music that “has never been made” before.  Even though we can certainly spot their influences (Bacilos, Mana), Making Movies are surely building up buzz and quality music in what will be their first full-length album, out this summer.

To prove this, we give to you a FREE DOWNLOAD of their brand new single “Libertad,” which they performed at En Tu Ciudad at Bottom Lounge on May 8th, and will be the first track to drop with the album.

Here’s a bit on “Libertad” as told by Enrique:

“‘Libertad‘ is the first single from our debut full length.  We feel that it really shows the progression that our band has made over the course of the last year.  The song is about how anything you love, whether that be a person, habit or idea is both your curse and your freedom set to a pulsing reggaeton rhythm.  We decided to make our own video for the song compiled from footage of our touring and recording over the last year.  This song and video mean a lot to us so thanks for checking it out!”
