The Indie-O Music Awards (“Los IMAS”) are an exciting opportunity to catch up with what’s happening in always-restless Mexico and get to know a few new band names of all genres.
Though this year some categories like Artist of the Year or Best Media are gone, some of the best bloggers and tastemakers in the country were invited to select the nominees. It’s also worth noting that acts have to register to be part of the selection, so this not a completely accurate picture of the Mexican soundscape. So before ranting on Twitter you have to ask yourself: which award ceremony is accurate in that way?
Centavrvs is expecting to take many feather statues home and are the band with the most nominations. They are nominated for Best Folk Album, Best New Artist, Best Art and Packaging and Song of the Year.
Other bands like Little Jesus, Torreblanca, Ayer Amarillo and Teen Flirt are nominated in three categories.
