Video: Movus' "Daath"

I don’t quite know how to box Movus. The Guadalajara quintet is in the post-rock realm (whatever that means), and from the looks of their latest video for the Maxa Firekeeper track “Daath,” they’re in the gloom business, too. There’s a mix of Beta Band melodies and inflection and Massive Attack ambience here, and it also reminds me of Puerto Rico’s Fantasmes, what with all the sprawling instrumentals and faint vocals. But if I can’t even put my finger on it that easily, then Movus must be doing something right. The clip below was directed by fellow Mexi Diego Arredondo in Movus’ homestate of Jalisco and it illustrates the music beautifully and appropriately. But be warned, it will give you nightmares. Watch it in a well-lit, full room.
