Natalia Lafourcade will be the subject of one episode of season two of the Netflix original show Song Exploder. The Mexican singer will share the bill with good artistic company, as the other episodes will feature Nine Inch Nails, Dua Lipa, and The Killers.

A spinoff of the podcast of the same name, Song Exploder chooses a song from an artist’s catalog and goes deep into the creative process behind it; interviewing the artist, songwriters, collaborators, and producers to guide the listener from the initial inspiration to the finished recording, going deep into the creation of the lyrics, beats, riffs, arrangements, and studio treatment.

Season one of the Netflix show debuted on October 2, 2020 and dedicated an episode to Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Hamilton song “Wait For It.” Other subjects on the season were R.E.M. —who broke down their alternative rock anthem “Losing My Religion”— Alicia Keys, and Ty Dolla $ing. The Song Exploder podcast continues strong as it has for the last six years, having featured Latinx artists such as Ibeyi and Empress of, as well as everyone from Fleetwood Mac to Slipknot as well as creators of theme songs from TV shows and podcasts.

Details like which Natalia song will be the subject of her episode are yet to be confirmed but we know that the Nine Inch Nails episode will focus on “Hurt,” one of their most iconic songs.

Season two of Song Exploder will debut on December 15. You can watch season one right now on Netflix.
