We’re excited to announce that our next Nuevo Noise showcase will feature a performance by none other than rising indie-pop artist Loyal Lobos. From her current home in Los Angeles, Colombia-born singer/songwriter Andrea Silva makes heart-shrinking folk-laden songs where her gorgeous voice floats and shines, making her emotional lyrics hit right home. Just in time for this special occasion, we’re exclusively premiering the music video for her latest single “Criminals.”
Originally released back in September, “Criminals” features Teddy Geiger (Lizzo, Shawn Mendez) on production duties. She and Silva created an atmospheric gem with a folk heart that might sound like a romantic love song at first, but it’s actually an ode to friendship and loyalty between women. “It’s about danger, fun, love, sadness, and sisterhood,” she shares. “The complexities of a woman and a friendship between two.”
The “Criminals” music video was directed by Diego Trenas and shot all around L.A.’s surrounding areas, including locations in the Joshua Tree, Mecca Malibu State Park, Calabasas, and many more. Through the use of gorgeous visuals featuring Silva herself, it support the song’s message of sisterhood. “The video for ‘Criminals’ depicts a complex friendship between two women, and how sometimes we have to shed our past in order to be free and complete in the present,” explains Trenas.
