Paquita La Del Barrio will receive a special tribute at this year’s Premio Lo Nuestro. Today (Feb. 19), the upcoming award show announced a performance dedicated to the late Mexican ranchera and bolero icon spearheaded by Pepe Aguilar and his children Ángela Aguilar and Leonardo Aguilar. Premio Lo Nuestro will air live tomorrow (Feb. 20) at 7 p.m. EST from Miami, FL, on Univision and ViX.
“Honoring Paquita la del Barrio’s legacy is a great responsibility and a true privilege for me. Her voice was an echo in the soul of our people, and her bravery in telling stories paved the way for many generations,” Pepe shared in a press statement. “I have always sought to keep the essence of Mexican music alive, and Paquita was a pillar of that essence: authentic, real, and powerful. May this tribute be as meaningful as the depth of her spirit.”
Ángela also shared her sentiment about the anticipated tribute. “Paquita la del Barrio taught us that a woman’s voice should never be silenced — she always sang what she felt, without fear or excuses. She turned heartbreak into art, pain into power, and through her music, she gave many of us the courage to speak our truth,” she said. “Honoring her legacy is deeply moving because, like so many women, I’ve found strength in her words. This tribute is more than a celebration of her music; it’s a promise to keep that brave spirit alive and continue amplifying the voices of women everywhere.”
Though it’s not confirmed what songs the Aguilar family will sing, Paquita’s most popular songs include “Rata De Dos Patas,” “Tres Veces Te Engañe,” and “Me Saludos A La Tuya.”

Paquita – real name Francisca Viveros Barradas – was born in Alto Lucero, Veracruz, on Apr. 2, 1947. The fierce and empowering artist passed away this Monday (Feb. 17) at her house in Veracruz. She was 77.
“With deep sorrow and sadness, we confirm the sensitive passing of our beloved ‘Paquita La Del Barrio,’ at her home in Veracruz, being a unique and unrepeatable artist, who will leave an everlasting mark in the hearts of all of us who knew her and enjoyed her music,” an official press statement said online.
