As we age, so do our parents, and we must learn how to live with it. That’s the message Colombian pop band TIMØ delivers in their new heartfelt pop single “Para El Tiempo,” premiering exclusively on Remezcla today (Dec. 5).
The Bogotá-originated trio formed by Andrés Vásquez, Alejandro Ochoa, and Felipe Galat is coming in hot after being nominated for the Latin Grammys as the Best New Artist in 2023. Now with hits like “Me Gustas,” “Salvavidas” with Bacilos, and their most popular collaboration “Conquistar El Planeta” with Colombian singer Andrés Cepeda, the parceros are taking in their breakout moment but also remembering their past.
The new emotive song pulls heartstrings as the band gets nostalgic about times that will never happen again. They came up with the idea of the song when they were in a town called Guasca in Colombia after they realized they weren’t the only ones getting older but their parents were too. “It was getting dark, and I remember that someone said: ‘It’s crazy to think that our parents are getting older, right?’” Galat recalls. “And it is true, how crazy to think that we are already 25 years old, our parents can be 60, 70 years old, and we don’t realize how our parents are getting older until you realize that they already have gray hair or something like that.”
He continued: “It inspired us to make this song as if to say, “Wow, yes, how crazy, how fast time goes by. I wish it weren’t like that; I wish we could stay longer as we are now.” The lyrics not only express nostalgic themes but they’re also meant to encourage listeners to commemorate and make the most of the present. “The song came at a very opportune moment because it talks about how sometimes things happen and we do not have enough awareness or the ability to realize that the most beautiful thing we can live is the present, is the now, [and] to see the achievements we are having in the day to day without thinking about tomorrow and that’s how life goes,” Vásquez chimed in.

To better capture life’s special fleeting moments, the song’s music video features behind-the-scenes clips of their Conquistar El Planeta Tour, which spanned across Latin America and Europe this year. In the music video, we see the band’s intimate scenes of the band traveling, mingling with fans, and performing on stage. Overall, the visuals are meant to showcase important moments that the band wishes they could freeze in time, echoing the single’s title. The wholesome song features poetic guitar strings, passionate vocals, and a soft pop-rock soundscape to complement the yearning tune.
Up next, the band will close their year with a special concert opening up for Cepeda on Dec. 13. It’s a full circle moment after their Conquistar El Planeta Tour, named after their joint track with Cepeda. And they’re not slowing down anytime soon. “Next year, we are going to start very strong with collaborations. This year we didn’t release any collaborations,” Vasquez said. “So next year we are going to be collaborating a lot, and the second TIMØ album is coming, va a estar una chimba.”
