Red Bull Thre3style World DJ Championship Comes Down To 12

The hunt for the world’s greatest DJ continues with Red Bull’s Thre3style World DJ Championship USA qualifiers going down in Phoenix, AZ this week. It took a little over two months but the US finalists have been whittled down to 12. Judges DJ Jazzy Jeff, Z-Trip, and 2012 Red Bull Thre3style World Champion Four Color Zack will spend three nights reducing that number to just one finalist to represent the USA and battle DJs from around the world in Japan at the world final.

The 12 finalists are Washington D.C. winner Trayze (Mount Rainier, MD), Philadelphia winner DJ Reed Streets (Wenonah, NJ), Pittsburgh winner DJ Bonics (Philadelphia), Chicago winner Boi Jeanius (Chicago), Indianapolis winner DJ Spare Change (Dayton, OH), Kansas City winner DJ B Stee (Kansas City), Eugene winner J Espinosa (San Bruno, CA), San Diego winner Dynamix (Los Angeles), Phoenix winner DJ Akshen (Phoenix),Tampa winner DJ Obscene (Miami), Charlotte winner DJ Jaycee (Atlanta), New Orleans winner DJ Buck Rodgers (Austin).

The dozen will be split into two groups of six to battle each other on April 2nd and April 3rd. Two winners will be chosen each night and the four will face off on April 4th for the title of US Champion!

There’s a chance that a Latino will represent the Stars & Stripes in Japan with J Espinosa and DJ Obscene making the final dozen.

Espinosa is no stranger to the competition having made it this far two years ago. Obscene (Jonathan Garcia) meanwhile will show why he was tapped as one of iHeartRadio’s official DJs for national events.

Round one goes off at the Monarch Theatre, Round Two at Club Red, and the grand national finale at the Pressroom.
