Separately, Eric Bobo of Cypress Hill (also son of jazz legend Willie Bobo) and Chilean dj/producer Latin Bitman (whose work has appeared on Dexter and 90210) are hella impressive in their own right. I’m not sure what forces brought these two together in Madrid one day, but I’m glad it happened because their collaboration led to one of 2011’s best and, sadly, under-the-radar albums: Welcome To The Ritmo Machine, featuring 12 tracks of incredible samba, bossa nova, funk, dub, and hip-hop.

Maestro,” directed by Fernando Lasalvia, is Ritmo Machine‘s first video for the album and it’s a meta, VH1-making-of-the-video-within-a-video. The track was one of the first they wrote and recorded for Welcome To… and a perfect example of what these two can do. It’s like the best bits of Thievery Corporation and Cut Chemist put together to a latin beat.
