Bachata legend Romeo Santos will be the subject of two cinematographic releases in the near future. One is a concert film titled Romeo Santos: Utopia Live From Metlife Stadium and the other is the documentary Romeo Santos: King of Bachata. Both will arrive on the same day in June and promise something really special for fans of Santos and the genre.

Utopia Live From Metlife Stadium commemorates Santos’ massive concert at Metlife Stadium which made him the first Latinx star to sell out the East Rutherford, NJ football field. According to a press release, it’s “an opportunity to relive one of the most incredible nights of my life,” says Santos. The show features highlights from Santos discography as well as the reunion of his former band Aventura.

While Utopia Live is pretty self-explanatory, King of Bachata is a more ambitious film. The latter follows Santos as well as Desus and Mero co-host The Kid Mero as they trace the history of the genre from the Dominican Republic countryside to the top of the world.

The film also documents Santos’s La Gira del Pueblo when he toured small towns and villages of the DR to visit the birthplace of the genre and treat the residents with the kind of spectacles that are not used to visit their homes. King of Bachata also features behind-the-scenes footage of Santos in the studio and on tour, as well as testimonies from his fellow bandmates in Aventura and personalities such as Cardi B, Daddy Yankee, Emilio Estefan, Marc Anthony, and bachata lifers like El Chaval de la Bachata, Elvis Martínez, Frank Reyes, Raulín Rodríguez, among many others.

“These films have been such a special project for me, and I’m honored and eager to show it to the world and pull back the curtain on the history of bachata,” said Romeo in the aforementioned press release. Both ventures are produced by Santos’s company Chimby Productions as well as Sony Music Latin, Endeavor Streaming, and iNDemand. The two films will premiere on June 25.

Fans can purchase tickets to watch the films starting today at romeosantosonline.com. In the U.S., viewers should be able to purchase each one through their cable providers.
