Fans of both bachata star Romeo Santos and legendary Mexican musician Marco Antonio Solís went wild last Thursday (April 1) when Santos tweeted a video singing a cover of Solis’ classic song “Invéntame.”
“A classic – and without a doubt one of the best Spanish-speaking composers – El maestro Marco Antonio Solís,” Santos wrote on Twitter.
With his eyes closed for the entire performance, Santos sang about 60 seconds of the song acapella. “Invéntame” was released on Solís’ 1999 album, Trozo de Mi Alma.
Santos’ fans were quick to give him a shout out online for the beautiful rendition of the song. Some even wrote that they liked Santos’ version better than the original.
Other fans took the opportunity to ask Santos when he was going to drop his next album.
The following day, Santos received a retweet from none other than Solís himself, who wondered when they might be able to sing together someday.
“What a tremendous surprise my dear Romeo! A big hug and let’s see when we can do it together,” Solis responded.
The last album Santos released was 2019’s Utopia, which went platinum five times and reached No. 1 on Billboard’s U.S Top Latin Albums and U.S. Tropical Albums. Solís’ last studio album was 2013’s Gracias Por Estar Aquí, which also hit No. 1 on the same record charts.
In the past, Solís has featured a handful of Latino musicians on his compilation albums, including Enrique Iglesias, Wisin y Yandel, Alejandra Guzman, Los Tigres Del Norte and the late Jenni Rivera.
