Singer and songwriter Sech was featured on the latest Tiny Desk (Home) Concert session for National Public Radio (NPR) in celebration of Our Heritage Month.

The “Otro Trago” singer performed songs with his band from his new album 42 – “Playa,” “911” and “Sal y Perrea” – from inside a library. Sech was partly inspired to name his album 42 after the jersey number worn by Jackie Robinson, the first Black baseball player to play in the Major Leagues.

When 42 first dropped in April, Remezcla said the album “straddles the line between silky smooth Panamanian dancehall and the classic reggaetón of the early aughts to land on something timeless” and was “a home run for the artist and the isthmus that bred him and the genre.”

Dressed in a white suit jacket, which was enhanced with a sketch of Robinson and an outline of the country of Panama, Sech started his small concert with a soulful rendition of “Playa.” We’re betting the acoustics in the library were amazing.

During an interview with Remezcla earlier this year, Sech mentioned what his intentions were with the album. “My goal was to supersede everything I’d done in music prior to this moment,” he said. “Also, there were a lot of comments in the hallways about me not being able to stick on my own. It’s like, ‘Please, kids, calm down. You know I can do it.’”

Recently, Sech released a remixed version of “Sal y Perrera” with Daddy Yankee and J Balvin. The remix came after he did the same earlier this year on the tracks “911” with Jhay Cortez and “Volando” with Bad Bunny and Mora.
