Before Selena broke out as la reina de Tejano, she flirted with some serious 80s pop princess vibes. In a video recently posted to the Abraham Q Productions YouTube page, you can see that even as a teenager she had the makings of a star – which really isn’t a surprise to any of us who are familiar with her life story. But because the Selena movie didn’t have room to highlight all her performances, we didn’t learn about her charming cover of Debbie Gibson’s “Only in My Dreams” until now. In the rare video, Selena shows off her dance moves and her gloriously 80s hair.

Since the video’s release, it’s circulated around the internet, even catching Gibson’s eye. “Wow! This is so incredible,” she wrote. “What a timeless vocalist who lives on. So honored she performed my song!!!”

The video’s description doesn’t specify when this performance took place, but Atlantic originally released Gibson’s song in 1986, when Selena was 15. Take it all in below:
