Now this one here has the potential of becoming one of the first big hits of 2011. French mestizo pioneer Sergent García fell in love with Colombia’s new electropical scene after recording his Cumbia Muffin EP a couple of years ago and decided to go back to put together a full album (his first one in five years) with local musicians, among them, of course, the genre’s queen herself: Bomba Estéreo’s Li Saumet.
“Mi Son Mi Friend” is released as a promotional FREE download of El Sargento’s upcoming album Una y Otra Vez, available on Cumbancha records starting May 17th, and it’s hands down the hottest collaboration Miss Saumet has ever done outside her group Bomba Estéreo. I’d even go as far as saying it’s almost as hot as “Fuego.”
With a promo track like this, we’re really looking forward to the rest of the album, which includes guest appearances by other Colombian luminaries like La Mojarra Eléctrica, La-33, and Sidestepper’s Erika Muñoz.
