LISTEN: Shakira Surprises Fans with New Remix of “Estoy Aquí” — 30 Years Later

Shakira is letting her love for Brazil be known. On Jan. 30, the Colombian superstar released a new remix for her classic hit “Estoy Aquí” featuring Brazilian DJ and music producer Papatinho. The remix is a celebration of starting her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour at the Estádio Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Feb. 11.
“Hello Brazil! Here’s a little gift for you: a new version of ‘Estoy Aquí’ with Papatinho, the song that made me fall in love with his country!” the artist wrote online in Portuguese. “Honored to be kicking off my Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour with you guys in Rio in two weeks! Hope to see you there!”
The new remix is a fresh take on Shak’s 1995 original classic. It explores elements of funk carioca that the DJ and hitmaker is known for. By adding Brazilian hip-hop tinges and increasing the BPM, the remix gives a second breath of air to the classic song that is still a fan-favorite today. Will Shakira add this new remix to the official setlist for her upcoming world tour?
Fans are excited about the new remix. A YouTube user, @ArmandoAdan, wrote in Spanish: “Her show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil will be excellent, as she is already including Brazilian funk ✨.
Other social media users are speculating about a 30th-anniversary re-release of the artist’s iconic album Pies Descalzos. A YouTuber, @sebsalort, wrote in Spanish: “Could there be an edition of new versions of the Pies Descalzos album coming!? Let’s remember that 2025 is its 30th anniversary. And we already listened to a piece of Antología!!!”
While we don’t know if a new remix album or re-release of Pies Descalzos is in the works, we’ll at least see what Shakira’s new tour delivers in less than two weeks.
