Formerly of Caracas raver-trio Todosantos, this Venezuela-based mix master ain’t to far to los Latinos y otros residentes de este lado. While Alberto Stangarone AKA Sunsplash, along with Brazilian girl Clarissa Steed, made funky tropical-splashy beats, and immersed in the party scene of the hispter capital known as Brooklyn, Alberto then returned to his native Caracas to become “el alma de las fiestas caraqueñas” and construct his latest junior release, Fantasma. Known for mixing a wide spectrum of electronic sounds from dubby-psych to electropical, Sunsplash maintains fresh beats with a funky minimal house twist.
While Fantasma features a range of familiar collabos, Alberto also introduces others into the mix, overall: Clarissa, and Venezuela’s Arufe, Alissa Love, Saigon84, Jairomendez, Kiev, and Ernesto Pantin. It also features a pretty dope 10-page booklet filled with artwork collages by Valentina Alvarado. The entire 14-track album is up for FREE download — a very suitable soundtrack to a hot, sultry day in the South American beach in 2012. “Fantôme” has pretty sexy-eerie vocals, while “Music for Lucid Dreamin’” drips with lustful sounds, and others like “Jajaja” hype shit up for a perfect night of raucousness and debauchery.
